Movies : The Message ( Al-Risalah ) Life of Prophet of Islam Mohammad

Although the film illustrates basic Islamic tenants like the call to prayer and Hajj (pilgrimage), Akkad's film focuses on the documented historical origins of Islam. Following a brief opening sequence where three messengers split up to deliver Mohammed's proclamation to Byzantium, Egypt, and Persia, we are thrust into Mecca of approximately 610 A.D. where pagans worship some 300 gods at the Ka'bah and where merchants actually rule the community. Mohammed has been isolated in the mountains for three days receiving revelations from God, and a handful of believers initially meet secretly before openly proclaiming His monotheistic message to the locals.(..) Imaginative use of the camera to represent the prophet, Quinn's acting, and the fact that this is the only substantial film about Mohammed and Islam makes Akkad's film worthwhile viewing. Movies : Yusef Islam (Cat Stevens) Behind The Music

Former British rock star Yusef Islam was the subject of a biographical documentary on cable tv's pop music station VH1, which aired for the first time this past weekend. The program followed the life of Brother Islam, from the time when he was just hitting the music scene up to who he has become today - highlighting his spiritual journey that reached its peak with his embracing of Islam.

Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, was born and raised in London where he became involved in music at a very young age. In 1968, when he was 17 years old, he hit the British music scene with full force, quickly becoming a favorite to music lovers.

As he progressed in the music industry, Islam displayed a perfectionist's attitude towards his work. The same could be said about the spiritual journey on which he embarked throughout his life. Studying various religions and spiritual practices, such as Zen Buddhism and numerology, Islam constantly struggled to find a balance between the pop-rock star lifestyle and the tranquility within his own soul. Years passed, his number one hits continued to mount. And, in the midst of international success, Islam suddenly found "the light of guidance" - from a direction that he was definitely not expecting.

His brother visited Jerusalem and came back with a copy of the Qur'an for Yusef. After reading a few passages, he realized that they could not be the word of man. Eventually, he embraced Islam and has been working very hard in Allah's cause since.

The documentary perhaps illustrated a theme in Yusef's life - the fact that he has always been misunderstood. It portrayed a Cat Stevens that was somewhat grounded at a time in history when change was erratic.

It showed him as a star maturing as he went through the rock and roll experience. Synonymous to that was his maturity in Islam. And, having been dubiously pegged by the British media as a staunch supporter of Ayatollah Khomeini's fatwa to execute Salman Rushdi for his book, Satanic Verses, Islam was made a figure of controversy.

The interview, of course, answered the most pressing question on viewers' minds - why did Islam decide to re-release some of his old material, after all these years of being away from the music? Simply stated, he did so because he felt, at this point in his life, that he needed to communicate a positive and beneficial message to humanity, and that these songs, while marking the tone of his spiritual search for truth, were a medium for doing so.

This statement by Yusef shocked many of his old fans. For the past twenty years, the most ardent of them have wondered why he so abruptly left the music industry that had made him known throughout the world. Likewise, Muslims who hold the view that all forms of music are unlawful were equally shocked that he has returned to some of roots.

VH1 brilliantly documented Yusef's nature and the fervor with which he works for justice, illustrating how he has transformed his perfectionist mentality in the studio to one devoted to the causes of the world's less fortunate. For example, his efforts to bring relief to countless Bosnian refugees, through his monetary aid as well as his physical presence, lifted the hearts of those devastated in this war-torn land.

It also showed that Yusef is very much involved in the community where he grew up. There were clips of him shaking hands with Britain's Prince Charles on his visit to one of the four schools that Br. Islam has established.

In summary, this piece provided a positive opportunity for Yusef Islam to gain closure on some of the issues that had left question marks in the eyes of his fans. It was also one of few positive portrayals of Islam and Muslims by the media.

In a series of dreams, the poet's nostalgia for his homeland and his longing for his wife, his ambivalent feelings for Eugenia and her Italy, and his sense of kinship with Domenico become intertwined.

There are very few people worthy of the accolade of "Genius" but the late Russian film-maker Andrei Tarkovsky was definitely one of them. In his film-making career he is responsible for some of the most beautiful images ever to be put on a cinema screen.

Billy Casper comes from the poorest end of town (Barnsley, England), he can't concentrate at school and does very badly. He is beaten up regularly by his elder brother and disregarded by everyone. This is a great film that captures the unique ability of young people to find meaning and fulfilment in the darkest and most unpromising situations.

How can I create expandable post summaries?

With this trick, you can choose to display an arbitrary amount of text from the beginning of each post, as a teaser for the whole thing. Then users who want to read the rest of the post can click a link to see the full text. This is handy if you have lots of long articles all on one page. Note that you'll need to have post pages enabled in order to make this feature work

There are three ingredients that go into this feature: conditional CSS, a "read more" link for each post, and a modification for the posts that use this feature. So let's go through it step by step.
Conditional CSS

We're going to use conditional tags to change how posts display on different pages. Add the following code to your style sheet:

Your style sheet is usually near the top of your template, between the tyle and style tags. If you have your style sheet in a separate file, you'll still need to add these lines in your template, so the conditional tags will work. Just make sure you add in the style tags around them

What we did here was to define a class called "fullpost" that will appear only on post pages (permalinks). Part of each post will use this class, as we'll see later.
"Read More" Links

Add the following code to your template, somewhere after the <$BlogItemBody$> tag:

This link will only appear on the main page and archive pages, and it will redirect your reader to the post page containing the full text of your post. You can replace the "Read more!" text with whatever you like, of course.
Post Modifications

The final piece that we need is a little bit of code in your actual post. Each post that you want to use this feature on will need this code:

Tutorials : You can have categories in your blog in 5 minutes flat

It is possible to have categories in your Blogger blog. A simple search (in Google or Blogger) shows that there are hacks to do it .
However, these hacks are a little complicated for some, especially if you only need a basic category function. And most of these hacks rely on external sites to do the tagging, such as Technorati and del.icio.us.

If all you need is a simple yet effective categorizing feature in your blog, here's how you can do it in 5 minutes flat. I even wrote a script generator, so you can easily generate the code to add to your sidebar template (very much like adding new links or Adsense code).work like this :

1 - Visit the script generator here.
2-Enter your blog URL in the first textbox. Leave out the "http://", and very importantly, leave out the "www." as well (this is because www.yourblog.blogspot.com is actually an alias to the actual yourblog.blogspot.com)

3-To add one more category, click on the link "click this to add one more category" and enter it in the textbox that appears. Repeat this step, if necessary, to add more categories

4-Finally, click the link "Generate code" to generate the code. Click on the code and press Ctrl-C to copy the code.

5-Go to your blog Template and look for the section called sidebar. Then paste the copied code at the place where you want the categories to appear.

6- Save your template and republish your blog.
Note that this technique (or hack) actually makes use of Blogger Search to categorize your posts. Thus it is important that you name the categories appropriately so that the search results return the correct posts. The category name should contain keywords that appear in your post. One extremely effective way, which I use, is to either (1) prefix every post's title with its category name, for example, "Blogging: categories categories...", or (2) ensure that your post contains the category name somewhere.
(You may need to republish your entire blog sometimes, to let Blogger index your pages.) If you find that Blogger Search is not searching your blog, check that you have activated the "Site Feed" and "Notify Weblogs.com" features for your blog (under Settings), and that your template does not contain a meta tag to stop the search bots from indexing your blog.
